Hello there!
My name is Paul and I am a professional computer nerd and tech enthusiast.
My interest in computers and technology started back in 1990 when I joined the United States Army and while stationed in Schweinfurt Germany, purchased my first computer, a Commodore64. I have fond memories of playing Buck Rogers: Countdown to Doomsday for hours into the night on my off time, (a trend that would continue for years).
A year later I bought my first PC, a custom built 486 DX-33 PC running MSDOS 6.22 with a whopping 16 megabytes of ram and a 100 megabyte harddrive. This entire system was built with one game in mind, and this game will go down in history as the most impactful PC game of all time:
After playing this game, I had an insatiable thirst for the latest and greatest in interactive computer graphics. In the years that followed I would stay up to date by building my own top level high end gaming PC Each time new chips and components were released. These systems were overclocked for maximum gaming performance and the envy of my gamer friends. I would often join in LAN parties with my friends, this was back when LAN parties were popular in the mid to late 90’s, we would have groups of around 50 people bring their PCs, giant CRT monitors and all to a location and play multiplayer games together on a big network, nothing like playing against someone in the same room as you and screaming at them when you destroy them in a match, ah the memories.
This is my current PC - Some things never change lol.
Because of my love of computers, I established myself in the computer industry and got my first tech job in 1995 working as a support agent for Gateway 2000. Most of my career consisted of providing technical support services to cusotmers in multiple capacities at different companies and also repairing computers and setting up networks as well as some desktop support. I owned a business for a time in the mid 90’s called Pentagon Computer Services in Houston texas. I learned the ins and out (mostly outs) of running a business back then, and started becoming profitable when the dotcom bubble burst and lost everyting, I vowed to one day get back to owning my own busienss again.
As much as I enjoy gaming, I also enjoy tinkering with computers, software and networking just as much (Ive also been a Linux user since around y2k). Its the challenge of finding solutions to problems and learning something new on a daily basis that drives me in this field, its something that I enjoy and am passionate about and I look forward to the opportunity to put my skills to work for you!
